Netflix Buys AOC Documentary For RECORD BREAKING Amount
Netflix has been making a huge move in releasing “original” content through its streaming service.
Actually, a lot of original content. So much so that they’re raising prices in order to cover the cost of all the originals.
Now, there is another documentary coming to a tv near you.
The documentary follows four liberal women who ran for Congressional office. One of them just happens to be, you know who…Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
According to Deadline,
One of the main figures in the film is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who ran as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and was elected to New York’s 14th District and became at age 29 the youngest woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress. Ocasio-Cortez was expected to come to Sundance, but had to cancel the trip because of the turbulence of the government shutdown which was just coming to an end.
The other progressive challengers whose campaigns are studied are Cori Bush, Amy Vilela and Paula Jean Swearengin, and the film drew raves and multiple bidders. Trying to find out how high the bidding went, but I am confident that Netflix is closing.
Deadline also made mention that,
Knock Down the House was one of several documentaries that went for millions at Sundance: Hulu’s $2 million buy of The Untitled Amazing Johnathan Documentary, Netflix’s near $3 million deal for American Factory, NatGeo’s $3 million deal for the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced Audience Award winner Sea of Shadows, Sony Pictures Classics acquired the David Crosby docu Remember My Name, and Where Is My Roy Cohn, and Showtime bought the series Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics And Men.
Ocasio-Cortez is actually the only one of the four women who were successful in winning their campaign.
I wonder if the documentary will give us a little more insight as to how ignorant the people who voted for her in her state of New York really are.
In all honesty, she probably only won because she’s a young attractive woman who knows how to command attention.
