We are living in a crazy time right now.

Society has come to a point where being afraid is what makes you normal and better than everyone else.

I read something recently that sums up this point to a “T”.

Do you remember the movie The Matrix when Neo goes to visit the Oracle and while he is waiting, he talks to one of the children there who is bending a spoon?

They have a brief conversation on reality:

Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you’ll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

What I read was a different take on this:

Spoon boy: Do not try and teach the Karens the lockdown was a mistake. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: That the lockdown has turned fear into a virtue.
Neo: The lockdown has turned fear into a virtue?
Spoon boy: Those who are afraid believe they’re better people than those who aren’t, and will subconsciously look for ways to multiply that fear because it is their virtue.

That is what has happened here. The video below shows a mob of mask wearers cursing and screaming at a woman in a ShopRite grocery store because she wasn’t wearing a mask.

Look, I’m not saying that you should or shouldn’t wear a mask. If you want to, that’s fine. If you don’t that’s also fine. But to treat someone like absolute garbage is disgusting for anyone to do. They act like they even have any authority to tell anyone what to do in a place that they don’t own.
