You Won’t Believe How Much Time Joe Biden Spent on Vacation Last Year
With every president that takes office, there always comes the complaints about how much time they spent doing things of luxury. Normally, this comes in the form of playing golf as with President Trump and Barack Obama, but not so much with Sleepy Joe because he’s a terrible golfer. He plays occasionally, but he shouldn’t. Besides golfing though, people like to criticize how much vacation time they take.
Joe Biden has spent a significant amount of time away from the White House, just in 2022, according to analysis of his travel schedule. As of October, Biden had spent 141 days, or 38.6% of the year, on getaways, including 92 days at his Delaware properties, 32 days at Camp David, and 5 days each in South Carolina, Nantucket, Massachusetts, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This puts him on track to outpace all past presidents in terms of time spent away from the White House.
Imagine having the most important job in the country and decided you’re going to go on vacation for a large portion of it.
However, the White House has defended Biden’s time away, stating that he is simply spending time with his family and that the presidency is a nonstop job that can be done from anywhere in the world. They also noted that Biden has taken fewer vacation days than the modern norm.
President Trump took 381 days in his four years in office. Obama took 328 days off during his eight years. And George W. Bush took 1,020 days off in his eight years, which is a lot. But Joe Biden could beat even Bush if he keeps up this pace.
While it is not uncommon for presidents to spend time away from the White House, Biden’s trips have not been without controversy. His latest trip to the Virgin Islands over Christmas was met with criticism as the country was dealing with a deep freeze and major airline travel issues.
Overall, it is important for presidents to have time to relax and recharge, but it is also essential for them to be present and available to address the needs of the country. As the leader of the United States, the president’s actions and decisions have a significant impact on the nation and the world. It is crucial for the president to strike a balance between fulfilling their duties and taking care of their own well-being.
