White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Just Can’t Answer a Simple Question
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did it again. Let’s be clear: No one could perform her job effectively. It’s impossible to make Joe Biden look good as hard as they may try. She’s definitely a liar, as Jen Psaki was, but it’s what they pay her to do.
On Monday, the press secretary made an error in equating Joe Biden’s massive stimulus package with the inflation situation.
During the press conference, reporters peppered Jean-Pierre with questions regarding inflation.
When can Americans anticipate relief, the reporter questioned, noting that inflation started increasing 18 months ago. She mentioned that the spike started following Biden’s signing of the American Rescue Plan into law, therefore Jean-Pierre may have responded too hastily. Uh-Oh.
“What about 18 months ago, when the president took office, inflation and gas prices started rising then?” the reporter asked.
“Well, 18 months ago, the president signed the American Rescue Plan back in April 2021,” she responded. (It was enacted on March 11, 2021, by Biden)
These statements are more than ironic considering that economists “agree that the stimulus spending contributed to accelerating inflation,” according to the New York Times.
At the beginning of the year, the Federal Reserve of San Francisco expressed grave concerns that Biden’s stimulus had “overheated” the economy.
The rapid response from Jean-Pierre confirmed the relationship that economists had already identified.
The fact that Jean-Pierre immediately asserted that the Biden administration “created more than 10 million jobs” suggests that she may have realized what she had done. However, that is also false because the increase was caused by people going back to work following the pandemic.
When will America finally feel any relief? Inflation is the president’s main concern, according to Biden’s team, but no timetable for relief has been provided.
Fox News journalist Peter Doocy pressed Jean-Pierre for these details on Monday, but she was unable to do so.
Doocy tossed the subject around a little and then repeated, “When?”
However, Jean-Pierre did not respond to the query; instead, she proceeded in criticizing Republicans.
