WATCH: Racism Training Teaches Racism and “How to be Less White”
Last month, Coca-Cola came under heavy criticism after leaked information came out on their “anti-racism” training they had in place for their employees.
One of the concepts, or should I say the primary concept of this training was how to be less white.
Let me just demonstrate how utterly racist this is.
According to the training, to be less white is to:
- be less oppressive
- be less arrogant
- be less certain
- be less defensive
- be less ignorant
- be more humble
- listen
- believe
- break with apathy
- break with white solidarity
Hopefully, this is already raising flags as to why this is racist. This is racist because these behaviors are not exclusive to white people. These are behaviors that EVERYONE exhibits. Also, to say that these behaviors come de facto just because one is white…is RACIST!
In another part of the training it reads:
“In the U.S. and other Western nations, white people are socialized to feel that they are inherently superior because they are white.
Research shows that by age 3 to 4, children understand that it is better to be white.”
Show me these studies and I’ll show you why they’re complete BS.
I grew up in the south in the 90s. I grew up in a predominantly white area. I grew up in an area that I’d consider to be redneck. That said, I still never considered it to be better to be white than to be black. In fact, as I got a little older as a kid, I actually had the opposite mindset and thought that it would be better to be black than to be white.
I’m now a parent and have a young son, who is older than 3 or 4, but less than 10. To this very day, we have never even mentioned people being black. I guarantee you that if you asked him what a black person is, he would have no idea. He has ZERO belief in the idea that it is better to be white because we haven’t taught him to distinguish between skin color. We are all people with different shades.
Racism is a learned behavior. When you truly treat people equally, race and skin color IS NOT an issue at all.
