In a recent interview, President Trump shared his thoughts on the 2024 US presidential election. “I think, in terms of movement—you can use that word if you want—but I think it’s even stronger than it was in 2016,” Trump said in an interview backstage after his speech to the annual National Rifle Association (NRA) gathering here earlier this month. “People saw what we can do.”

Trump believes that the movement he represents is gaining momentum, driven by a desire for common sense solutions to issues such as border control, education, low prices, and a strong military. He stated, “They want their country back. It’s simple. They want their country back. Their country has been taken away from them.”

Trump criticized President Biden’s stance on immigration, foreign policy, economy, and green agenda. He particularly targeted the idea of all-electric cars and faucets that don’t release water, stating, “We don’t want to run our cars on a kite or make-believe. We don’t want to take away energy from our people.” “All electric cars, no gas stoves, water faucets where water doesn’t come out? How about the water faucets where water doesn’t come out?” Trump said.

Speaking about the state of the economy, Trump claimed that some Americans were forced to paint potatoes instead of eggs during Easter because they couldn’t afford them. He added, “They couldn’t get eggs.”

Despite facing an impeachment trial and being banned from Twitter and Facebook for a long time, Trump remains popular among a significant segment of the US population. He attributes this to his ability to connect with people and be a “messenger to a movement.” Trump said, “People want to see and want to have their country back. They want to stop the invasion. They want to stop the drugs from pouring in. Drugs are coming into our country now at such a record level.”

“I just think that the spirit now, and you’re looking at the polls—once I started campaigning because I announced just prior to the year.
