Trump Just Labeled This Group As A Terrorist Organization, Mexico Responds
President Donald Trump just names a new group as a terrorist organization. It’s very interesting because while it is the right call, it’s not a group that you would normally think about. That group is the Mexican cartels.
This isn’t the first time that President Trump has named a new group as a terrorist organization. Earlier this year, the President named the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization as well, and rightly so.
Now Mexico wants to have a meeting with the Trump administration. In my opinion, and this is just a guess, I don’t think it’s going to be a good meeting. I think that Mexico is upset that we just named people in their country as terrorists. But hey, we call it like we see it.
According to The Daily Wire,
The Mexican government responded to President Donald Trump saying on Tuesday that he intends to designate the Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations by asking to meet with the Trump administration.
Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Relations said in a statement that Mexico’s Foreign Minister will make contact with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss the matter.
“By virtue of the good relations that exist between the two countries, the Government of Mexico will seek to have a high-level meeting as soon as possible to present Mexico’s position and know the views of the United States authorities,” the statement said. Mexico said that it wanted to address money, weapons, and organized crime that flows from the United States into Mexico.
There are actually specific criteria that a group must meet in order to be officially recognized as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
The first is obvious, they must be a foreign organization. Next, they must engage in or retain the capability and intent to engage in terrorism. And finally, the group must threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national defense, foreign relations, or the economic interests of the United States.
