The Single Reason SCOTUS Justices Should UNANIMOUSLY Cut Down Trump Ballot Ruling
Constitutional law attorney and Fox News legal analyst Jonathon Turley has come out swinging with a bold statement that’s sure to ruffle some feathers. According to Turley, all nine Supreme Court justices should strike down Colorado’s decision to disqualify former President Donald Trump from the state ballot. And the best part? He doesn’t think there should be a single dissenting opinion on this case.
According to Turley, four justices on the Colorado Supreme Court have tried to sneak a “destabilizing element” into our U.S. constitutional system. And let’s be honest here, folks, we’ve got enough instability going on without adding more fuel to the fire.
Turley brought up a very valid point during his interview. Despite a highly motivated special counsel armed to the teeth and ready to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Trump, no charges were ever filed against him for insurrection or sedition. Why? Because there was no evidence to support such charges. So, what gives Colorado the right to disqualify Trump based on unproven allegations?
In a 4-3 decision, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump violated the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban,” citing the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot as their reason. But as Turley and many others have pointed out, this ruling seems to be more about political bias than actual justice.
Chief Justice Brian Boatright, one of the dissenting voices in Colorado, argued that the state law “was not enacted to decide whether a candidate engaged in insurrection.” And he’s right. Without an insurrection-related conviction, how can they justify disqualifying a candidate? It’s a slippery slope, my friends, and one that we need to be wary of.
Turley concluded his interview with a powerful statement that is sure to resonate with many. He said, “This country is the most successful and stable constitutional system in history… what these four justices have done is to introduce a destabilizing element in that system… They should do it unanimously. They should do it in one voice, all nine and not divide on this. It’s too important not to speak as one.”
And I couldn’t agree more. This isn’t just about Trump. It’s about preserving the integrity of our constitutional system and ensuring that justice is served fairly, regardless of political affiliation. So, here’s to hoping that the Supreme Court justices heed Turley’s advice and strike down this decision. After all, it’s not just Trump’s future on the line – it’s the future of our democracy.
