Space May Hold the Answer to Our Money Problems, Making Us All Billionaires
What would you do if you were rich beyond all imagination? What if you were a billionaire? Chances are that you’re not and never will be.
However, some scientists and experts are saying that there is a way that something like this could be feasible in the future in about 50 years.
There is an asteroid that is carrying approximately $700 quintillion worth of precious metals. Surely, Elon Musk can work up some plan to get us there to mine it, right? We would all be filthy rich! Woohoo!
But honestly, what would happen if everyone on the planet became billionaires? That would be a good thing, wouldn’t it? Everyone would be rich and could just buy whatever they want, right? Don’t be so sure of that.
In reality, what would likely happen is that money would become meaningless or the price of everything in the world would skyrocket. Instead of paying $3 for a bottle of soda, you might bay $3 million for it.
Why though? Why not $3? It’s because $3 would be absolutely pittance to someone who is a billionaire. Why would they accept $3 from you when they have billions? They won’t spend all of that money. Why would people work if they’re billionaires? They would have all the money that they would need. Hopefully, you’re starting to see the problem in this idea of everyone being rich.
The only reason tradable things have value is because of the scarcity of those items as well as the supply and demand. If you’re a billionaire, are you going to continue your job at the car factory making vehicles making $20/hour? I doubt it. $20/hour no longer means much to you anymore. So you may want a raise of $10,000/hour or something of that nature. After all, they got some of that money as well.
Everyone being rich will not fix any problems in this world, I promise you that.
