Shifty Schiff Has a Challenger in Race for Senator of California
Adam Schiff may have met his match and all I can do is cheer on his opponent, even though he’s a Democrat. Now, of course, I would actually root for a Republican if I lived in California, but from a distance, I’ve got to at least root for Shifty Schiff to lose, and this Hollywood star may be the one to beat him.
Ben Savage, the star of beloved classic children’s sitcom “Boy Meets World,” has taken a major step forward in preparing for a potential run at U.S. Congress in California’s 30th District. Documents filed with the Federal Election Commission by Savage on Wednesday indicated his intent to run under the Democratic Party, should current Democratic Representative Adam Schiff decide to vacate the seat upon running for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat.
This news comes shortly after Savage’s unsuccessful bid for a West Hollywood City Council seat in November, wherein he placed seventh and secured 6.32% of the vote. At the time of his campaign, Savage had resided in West Hollywood for 18 years and had highlighted issues such as public safety, struggling businesses, inflation and cost of housing as reasons why he was throwing his hat into the political ring.

On his website at the time he declared that West Hollywood needed new leaders with a fresh perspective who could offer reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to some of the city’s most pressing issues while also increasing access to all its opportunities. His plans also included attempting to restore faith in city government by offering thoughtful solutions to these matters.
It appears that Savage is looking to take this same attitude towards wider politics should he be successful in securing Adam Schiff’s place in Congress. In fact, Politico reported last November that several sources claimed that Representative Adam Schiff was planning on running for Senate instead of House and already two other Democratic congresswomen have stepped forward indicating their interests in Feinstein’s Senate spot, Representatives Katie Porter and Barbara Lee have both made announcements regarding their intentions of running for California’s Senate position.
Savage has always been passionate about education even during his acting career. According to IMDb he graduated from Stanford University with a Political Science degree back in 2004 and even interned for Pennsylvania Democrat Arlen Specter during summer 2003 while still studying at college level. This further highlights how serious he is about entering political office should it become available and makes one wonder what kind of impact he might make if given an opportunity like this one.
All things considered it seems that Ben Savage may just be ready and waiting for an opportunity to make a difference within US politics. Only time will tell us whether or not it will come around anytime soon.
