Senior GOP Senate Source: Romney Blocking Sen. Ron Johnson From Subpoenaing Comey and Brennan
On Wednesday, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson revealed that there is someone in the Senate Committee on Homeland Security that is blocking subpoenas.
If you recall, earlier this year the Committee gave Sen. Johnson unilateral power to subpoena, but now there are apparently some members who are “highly concerned” about how it looks politically to subpoena former President Obama’s crew.
Ron Johnson had been refusing to name names but emphasized that he needed unanimous support from all the committee Republicans in order to be able to issue the subpoenas
“If I lose one, I lose the vote,” Johnson said.
Hugh Hewitt repeatedly asked Ron Johnson to name the GOP members on the Senate Homeland Security Committee blocking his subpoenas.
Johnson dug in his heels.
“Hugh, I’m just not going to be naming names that way,” Johnson replied.
“If there’s a senator who is blocking a subpoena, we need to know who that is so we throw them out,” Hewitt said, pressuring Johnson to name names.
Here are the Republican members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security:
- Johnson,, Ron. WI.
- Portman, Rob. OH.
- Paul, Rand. KY.
- Lankford,, James. OK.
- Romney, Mitt. UT.
- Scott, Rick. FL.
- Enzi, Michael B. WY.
- Hawley, Josh. MO.
So it looks pretty obvious who it is. It’s obviously Mitt Romney. He’s a RINO who is involved in the Deep State just as much as some of the others. It’s also possible that Rob Portman is one who has been blocking the subpoenas as well.
But we know Romney is one of them with almost complete certainty because as you remember, Mitt Romney was against President Trump during the impeachment trial. He was the lone Republican who voted along with the Democrats to convict President Trump of the garbage that the Democrats tried pinning on him. He’s been against him all along.
