Senior Citizens Evicted from Nursing Home Turned into Migrant Shelter
Well, isn’t this a slap in the face of our American seniors? According to a report, dozens of elderly residents in New York City, including a 94-year-old Army veteran named Frank Tammaro, were booted from their senior center. And guess what? That same center is now serving as a shelter for migrants. Talk about misplaced priorities!
These seniors, many of whom saw the center as their final home, were given the boot to make way for an influx of migrants flooding into the city. Tens of thousands of them have entered NYC since last spring, costing the city around $5 million per day. And who’s footing that bill? You guessed it, hardworking taxpayers like you and me.
The irony here is so thick you could cut it with a knife. The same Mayor Eric Adams who once boasted about NYC being a “sanctuary” for migrants is now complaining about the influx. It seems like those rose-tinted glasses are finally coming off.
Our friend Frank Tammaro, who had called the center home for five years, expressed his frustration quite succinctly: “I do get upset when I see them handing out all this money and all these things, and I’m paying taxes and getting kicked out,” he said. “I’ve never got anything from the city. Or the state.”
And can you blame him? Here’s a man who served his country, paid his dues, and expected to live out his twilight years in peace. Instead, he finds himself evicted to make room for migrants, while his insurance rejects long-term requests for care. It’s not just unfair – it’s downright disgraceful.
And let’s not forget about the NYC parents who are up in arms because their kids’ schools were turned into migrant housing. Their children lost access to recess and some sports and were basically put on “lockdown” since there were strangers living at their schools. So much for prioritizing the education of our future leaders, eh?
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for lending a helping hand. But not when it comes at the expense of our own citizens, especially our seniors and children.
In the end, this fiasco serves as a stark reminder of the misplaced priorities of some of our city officials. And while Mayor Adams may now be singing a different tune, one can’t help but wonder if it’s too little, too late.
