Russia Claims Discovery of Virus with 40% Death Rate in US Biolab in Ukraine
To be completely honest, the potential findings in Ukraine claimed by Russia are concerning and should not be taken lightly. If verified, there are several reasons why this discovery could be alarming.
According to a statement released on May 26, 2023 by the Russian Ministry of Defense, evidence has been collected by Russia showing avian flu pathogens with a lethality rate of up to 40% in humans at a US biolab in Ukraine. The Kharkov Institute of Veterinary Medicine was involved in the work of UP-8 and P-444 Projects and preparations for the Flu-Fly-Way project, as confirmed by documents seized from a veterinary laboratory in the Biosphere Reserve in Askania Nova, Kherson region.
The MOD has stated that these projects are focused on developing and examining new forms of avian flu viruses that can spread to humans, leading to severe illness and death. These viruses have a high risk of causing an epidemic and are a significant threat to global health security.
The MOD stated that the US has violated the Biological Weapons Convention by using Ukraine to conduct research and development on biological weapons. The convention prohibits the development, production, stockpiling, acquisition or retention of microbial or other biological agents or toxins without justification for peaceful purposes.
According to the US Embassy in Ukraine, the allegations made by Russia that the US is involved in operating biolabs in Ukraine are false. The US denies these claims and calls them “total nonsense”. The US Embassy clarified that they only provide technical support and equipment for Ukraine’s public health labs to enhance their research on dangerous diseases.
According to the US, the Biological Threat Reduction Program is in place in various former Soviet countries, including Ukraine, with the goal of decreasing the risk of biological weapons spreading and improving worldwide health security. The US partners with other countries to address the possibility of intentional, accidental, or natural outbreaks of the most dangerous infectious diseases.

There are 25+ US-funded biolabs in Ukraine which if breached would release & spread deadly pathogens to US/world. We must take action now to prevent disaster. US/Russia/Ukraine/NATO/UN/EU must implement a ceasefire now around these labs until they’re secured & pathogens destroyed pic.twitter.com/dhDTH5smIG

Russia is demanding an international investigation into US biolabs in Ukraine and has presented evidence to the United Nations General Assembly. They are calling for a global ban on biological weapons research. The claim has raised concerns about the possibility of a man-made virus causing a new pandemic and has added tension to strained relations between Russia and the US over the conflict in Ukraine.
