Report Details Biden’s Decision
It appears that Kamala Harris might become the Democratic nominee for president, even though she hasn’t received a single vote in the primary. Some critics argue this seems more like a selection rather than a true election, which they claim undermines the democratic process—an ironic twist for a party that often positions itself as a defender of democracy.
Interestingly, despite all the political maneuvering, Kamala’s poll numbers are trailing behind former President Donald Trump. In fact, she appears to be as unpopular, if not more so, than President Joe Biden. Harris is closely associated with many of the current administration’s policies, some of which have been controversial. One notable area of criticism is her handling of the border crisis, which was one of her key responsibilities assigned by Biden.
Harris has faced scrutiny for her public speaking style, often criticized for delivering “word salads” and a seemingly lightweight demeanor. Additionally, she’s been linked to covering up Biden’s condition. Recent reports suggest that even Biden’s aides have leaked damning information about her. According to a report from Axios, three aides revealed that Biden hesitated to drop out of the race because he was unsure if Harris could handle a campaign against Trump. Even prominent figures like Barack Obama didn’t rush to endorse her immediately.
Her tenure as vice president has been marked by significant staff turnover and avoiding politically risky tasks. Reports indicate that much of her staff has left over the past three and a half years. For instance, of the 47 staffers listed in 2021, only five remained as of this spring. The frequent turnover has been partly attributed to her management style, often described as grilling or “prosecuting the staff,” reminiscent of her days as a prosecutor and her time in the Senate questioning Trump officials.
Harris’ aversion to attending events that aren’t tightly controlled further complicates her public image. In 2022, the White House urged her to headline the Gridiron Dinner, a prestigious event in D.C., but she resisted, leading Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to step in. Similarly, her anxiety about attending a salon-style dinner hosted by David Bradley led her staff to hold a mock dinner to prepare her, even considering including wine for practice.
These revelations about her hesitancy and need for extensive preparation for social events raise serious concerns. The role of the president requires someone who can handle unforeseen challenges and operate under pressure, not someone who needs extensive rehearsals for social interactions.
The Democratic Party’s maneuvering to maintain control by possibly nominating Harris, despite these issues, raises questions about their commitment to a genuine democratic process. The nation needs a leader who can decisively manage the complexities of the presidency, especially given the current challenges. Trading one set of perceived inadequacies for another does not seem to be the solution the country needs.
