Popular Dating App Takes Online Dating to a New Standard
Dating is getting a little harder…or maybe a little easier depending on how you look at it. Regardless, it should be a lot safer soon.
Tinder is now moving forward with a plan to take action in preventing sexual crimes by having background checks.
According to Outkick,
Tinder’s new partnership will allow users to access public information including people’s arrests, convictions and sex offender registry records.
The move comes after reports surfaced that several male Tinder users have sexually assaulted the women they have met through the app
“We believe we have an important role to play in creating safer spaces for everyone,” a Tinder exec told The Post.
To be honest, this makes a lot of sense. I know how insane it sounds initially to think that background checks need to be performed in order to go on a date with someone, but sadly, given the current state of thing, it’s become necessary.
I am incredibly thankful that I’ve been married for a long time and don’t have to worry about dating in today’s age because it is ridiculous. You never know what you’re going to get with stuff like Tinder.
On more than one occasion I’ve read a story or seen a video about something horrific happening after meeting someone on Tinder. In fact, just this month I was reading about someone who flew out to visit someone she met on Tinder and he ended up killing her.
But this app has become a haven for sexual predators as well. But to be honest, what do you expect? This isn’t exactly a dating app, at least to my understanding. This is more of an app that is designed for people to meet up for intercourse.
Admittedly, I’ve never used it so I just don’t know all of the ins and outs of the app, but I do know that this was at least what the intention behind it was initially.
