Pelosi Has Strong Words For Reporter During Interview
Since former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed Joe Biden out of the presidential race in July, she’s kept a relatively low profile. But when she has surfaced, it’s been more of the same rhetoric that has defined her career.
A prime example came during her late August appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, where she invoked Ronald Reagan’s legacy in a feeble attempt to defend California’s disastrous open borders policies. Then, there was her performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she waffled on the Israel-Hamas war, trying to play both sides of the issue without committing to anything substantial.

However, Pelosi’s recent interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper took things to another level. Despite Tapper’s well-known soft spot for Democratic guests, he managed to ruffle Pelosi’s feathers with a question about Donald Trump’s recent remarks regarding Kamala Harris’ cognitive state.
At a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia, Trump had suggested that Harris had more cognitive issues than Biden, which led Tapper to ask Pelosi if she had a response. Pelosi snapped back, visibly irritated, saying, “Why would you even cover that? This is a person who’s not on the level. He is their nominee for president. He is incompetent.”
Pelosi’s defensive outburst only highlighted the touchiness surrounding Harris and the broader Democrat strategy. Tapper pushed her a bit further, asking about her role in advising presidential candidates, which opened the door for Pelosi to make a curious claim: “I never give advice to presidential candidates.” Given what we know about Pelosi’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering, particularly in pushing Biden out of the race, this statement rings hollow.

It was Pelosi herself who allegedly pressured Biden out of the 2024 race while he was recovering from COVID-19 at his Delaware beach house. Reports surfaced that she was prepared to release damaging polling data to prove that Biden couldn’t win against Trump in a rematch, essentially forcing his hand. And during the Democratic National Convention, Pelosi admitted to doing “what I had to do,” to ensure Biden stepped aside. Her claim to stay out of presidential campaigns simply doesn’t line up with the facts.
With the race now in full swing and Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, the big question is whether Pelosi’s gambit will pay off. If Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance pull off a victory in November, Pelosi might find that her carefully orchestrated coup was all for nothing. It’ll be interesting to see how she handles that scenario—she’s not one to take defeat lightly, and the fallout could be dramatic.
