Once Again, Congress Proves They Don’t Care About Americans At All
It’s sad to say, but Congress does not give a crap about you or me.
Twice now, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has blocked a quick vote to increase the amount of the stimulus checks from $600 to $2000.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “Let me make this offer to the Republican majority. We’re willing to vote on the other issues that President Trump mentioned. All the issues the Republican leader says must be addressed so long as we vote on them separately. If Leader McConnell wants a vote on these issues, we’re here for it. Just give us a vote on the House-passed bill and we can vote on whatever right-wing conspiracy theory you’d like.”
I’m not a fan of this sort of government spending, but I’ve got to sympathize with people who are hurting right now because of the government’s actions.
$600 is a massive slap in the face. Basically, Congress is saying, “I know we closed your businesses and caused you to lose your job and we want to make up for it. Here’s a week’s worth of income to get make up for these last 10 months of unemployment. Don’t spend it all in one place.”
Remember how we were complaining about Nancy Pelosi holding up everything for the past six months and preventing Americans from getting stimulus funds? Now that’s exactly what Mitch McConnell is doing.
What they’re voting on isn’t tied to anything! It’s an amendment to change the numbers from $600 to $2000 and that’s it.
For some reason, McConnell is calling the increased stimulus checks “socialism for the rich”.
This is so stupid. Does he think that people who aren’t rich aren’t going to get money? Does he think the rich really give a crap about $2000?
Here’s what McConnell said, “The data show that many upper-middle class Americans have kept their job, work remotely and remain totally financially comfortable. On the other hand, some of our fellow citizens have had their entire existence is turned upside down and continue to suffer terribly. We do not need to let the speaker of the House do socialism for rich people in order to help those who need help.”
If he really believes that citizens have had their lives turned upside down and are suffering, then why isn’t he sending them more money?
