Obama Lied and Republicans Knew It Would Happen
When Democrats fought and fought to push Obamacare…without even knowing what was inside of it, Republicans fought back. We knew all along that this was going to be a bad idea for so many reasons. In fact, it was so bad that the Supreme Court even declared that part of it was illegal. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know then I’m not sure what else would do it for you.
But one of the things that Obama said during the push was that this wouldn’t cover illegal immigrants. Republicans were certain that it would. Here’s what Obama said back when they were pushing for Obamacare during a State of the Union address.
During the speech, the Obama discussed the health coverage of illegal immigrants, saying: “There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” At this point, South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!”, briefly interrupting the speech.
Well, guess what’s happening now? Biden has announced that illegal aliens will get healthcare thanks to Obamacare…the exact thing that Republicans said would happen all those years ago.
“When President Obama and I created the DACA program, we knew it would transform lives and it has, bringing stability and possibility to hundreds of thousands of young people known as DREAMers,” Biden said in the announcement:
It’s past time for Congress to give DREAMers a pathway to citizenship. And while we work toward that goal … we need to give DREAMers the opportunity and support they deserve.
So today, my administration is announcing our plan to expand health coverage for DACA recipients by allowing them to enroll in a plan through the Affordable Care Act or through Medicaid. Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), on Thursday, slammed Biden’s plan to open Obamacare and Medicaid rolls to illegal aliens, calling it “an insult to American citizenship.” “Rewarding illegal immigration will bring more illegal immigration,” Cotton said. And he’s exactly right. That’s precisely what it will do.
According to Chris Conover, who formerly worked at the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University, taxpayers are currently providing a minimum of $18.5 billion per year to cover the medical expenses of undocumented immigrants residing within the United States.
In July 2019, when CNN conducted a poll among American voters, it was found that almost 60% of the voters were against the idea of making taxpayers give free health benefits to illegal immigrants. This included 63% of swing voters and 61% of those who identified themselves as “moderates”.
