No Wall, No Government – President Trump’s Feet Are Firmly Planted
As we now have reached Day 5 of the partial government shutdown, President Donald Trump says that he’s not going to relent from seeking funding for border security.
Wednesday will be the first noticeable for the shutdown due to the weekend and holiday.
Fox News reports,
Democrats, though, remain opposed to approving additional funding for a border wall as part of a new government spending package — and their hand only strengthens once the party takes control of the House next month. The White House warned over the weekend that the shutdown standoff could extend into the new year, and Trump on Tuesday made clear he’s not planning to budge either.
“I can’t tell you when the government is going to be open,” Trump said. “I can tell you it’s not going to be open until we have a wall, a fence, whatever they want to call it.
“It’s a barrier from people pouring into our country,” he added. “It’s a barrier from drugs.”
It seems as though Democrats have forgotten all too easily when former President Barack Obama shut down the government for 16 days over Obamacare. Mind you, a bill that no one had even read! Don’t you remember House Minority Leaders Nancy Pelosi’s words she uttered in a defense to pass the Affordable Care Act in 2010?
“We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
So the Democrats were more than willing to pass a bill that they had no idea what was in it just because it was Obama, but they’re not willing to protect our citizens, stop sex trafficking, work towards stopping drug trafficking, and stop wasting hundreds of billions of dollars every year to manage these illegal immigrants.
With Democrats set to take over the House of Representatives in January, they may be trying to stall and keep the government shutdown until that time.
