Nikki Haley Break Promise to President Trump
The news of Nikki Haley announcing her bid for the 2024 presidential election has been met with mixed reactions. On one hand, many people are excited to see a woman of color running for office and hope that she will bring a fresh perspective to the White House. On the other hand, some are disappointed because they feel like it is a broken promise from Haley.
Haley had said that if he were to win the election then she would not run against him in 2024. Now that Trump has announced his intention to run again in 2024, many supporters feel betrayed by Haley’s decision to break her promise and enter the race.
AP News reported,
Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, often mentioned as a possible 2024 GOP presidential contender, said Monday that she would not seek her party’s nomination if former President Donald Trump opts to run a second time.
“Yes,” Haley said, when asked if she would support a second bid by Trump, in whose Cabinet she served for the first half of his administration.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” Haley said, asked by The Associated Press if a possible Trump bid could preclude her own effort, were he to announce first. “That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point, if that decision is something that has to be made.”
Haley’s announcement video focused on her story as an immigrant daughter and how she wants to bring “renewal of American pride” back into politics. She also spoke about how she believes in bipartisanship and working together across party lines in order to get things done. While these are all admirable goals, it does little to assuage those who feel betrayed by her decision to break her promise not to run against Trump in 2024.
Get excited! Time for a new generation.

It remains unclear whether or not Haley will be successful in her bid for the presidency, but this move has certainly caused a rift between herself and President Trump’s supporters. In my opinion, her campaign is already doomed to die.
