New Stimulus Bill Could Possibly Work, Support from Both Sides of the Aisle – Here’s What’s in it For You
There is new stimulus bill that’s being proposed may actually have a decent chance of making it.
Sen. Josh Hawley is proposing a bill which calls for more direct payments to Americans.
“Americans need direct payments now. Families are struggling. Unemployment claims are rising and food lines are growing. It’s time Congress finally acts,” Hawley said in a statement. “Direct payments should be at the center of any Covid relief legislation that Congress passes. If Congress doesn’t pass relief legislation with direct payments in it by next week, I will go to the Senate floor to demand a vote on my legislation.”
The reason I say it could work is because Sen. Hawley has some strong Democratic support behind this proposal. Last week, Sen. Hawley and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez both agreed that we desperately need a second stimulus bill which includes substantial support in the form of direct payments to American families.
With AOC backing it and her clout with the left, they might make it happen.
The most recent proposal from the Senate was honestly dead in the water if you ask me. They only proposed $600 payments instead of what we saw earlier this year of $1,200 per person and $500 per child.
I don’t expect the House to accept anything less than what we saw in the first round of checks.
“I will gladly work w/ @AOC and anyone else who wants to help working families. Families and working people in need should be the FIRST consideration in COVID relief, not last,” Hawley tweeted on Dec. 4.
Hawley is one of the few GOP lawmakers who support stimulus checks like those doled out in March to people earning below a certain amount of money.
Other Republicans have bashed the strategy as a “socialist” or “radical” idea from Democrats. President Trump, however, capitalized on the original proposal, maneuvering to have his name inscribed on the checks.
Believe it or not, I actually agree with something else that AOC said in a tweet. She said,
“These COVID negotiations should be public.
The public should be able to see who is holding stimulus checks hostage & demanding immunity for big corporations exposing workers to COVID.
The secrecy protects them. It’s harder to do these things without the closed door.”
While I think it would be helpful, liberals are still going to be blinded by their own bias. I swear, Nancy Pelosi could say in front of everyone “I’m going to hold this bill up and blame it on the Republicans,” and they would honestly believe that it was the Republicans’ fault. They have no ability to think for themselves anymore. They only regurgitate what they’ve been fed by the media and liberal professors and teachers.
