‘Never Trump’ Governor CAVES, Admits He’ll Vote for Trump Over Biden
Well, isn’t this a twist? The ‘Never Trump’ Governor himself, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, has done a full 180. In a recent interview with Tara Palmeri, when asked if he’d vote for Trump or Biden, his response was simple: “I’m a Republican.” Sununu, who’s never hidden his disdain for former President Trump, seems to have swallowed the bitter pill. The fallout from the interview with Puck has been spreading across the media like wildfire since Tuesday.
In fact, Sununu believes “It’s more likely than not that Trump is the nominee,” for the GOP Primary in 2024, although he added, “it’s not an absolute.” He suggested that Trump’s detractors would need to unite to dislodge him from his perch. But given Trump’s near unassailable lead of 50 points according to Morning Consult, that seems like a tall order.
“If you get to Super Tuesday and Trump runs the table, it’s over,” Sununu claimed. “But if you get to Super Tuesday and Haley or an alternative candidate is winning three or four states, then the whole paradigm changes. Now it becomes a one-on-one race.”

Sununu seems to believe that Trump’s support among engaged voters in the early states is less than the 61% seen in national polls and is closer to 40%. However, he didn’t provide any concrete evidence to back this claim.
“Let’s say Ron DeSantis is the one, or Chris Christie is the one who [breaks] out by Super Tuesday. Trump can have his 40 percent. Someone else will have 60,” Sununu continued. “Trump has a ceiling. He has a floor, but he also has a ceiling — one that is fairly low for a former president.”
Sununu suggested that if it becomes a one-on-one race, Trump could be in trouble. However, he believes that Democrats are likely to replace incumbent President Joe Biden before they let him lose in 2024. “Biden has become so bad, even Trump can beat him,” he said.

It seems like Sununu is playing the field, attending events for Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Ron DeSantis. But when push comes to shove, Sununu’s Republican loyalty seems to trump his personal feelings towards the former president.

In the world of politics, it seems, there are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. And for now, it appears that Sununu’s interest lies in backing the winning horse, even if it’s a horse he’s not particularly fond of. Buckle up, folks, because the 2024 election is shaping up to be one heck of a ride!
