Over the weekend, the New York Times allegedly gained access to President Trump’s tax records for the past 15 years or so.

They claim that he only paid $750 in taxes in multiple years, but the Trump administration is claiming that this is complete nonsense and that it’s an outright lie.

Here’s what the President tweeted about the claims from the NYT,

“The Fake News Media, just like Election time 2016, is bringing up my Taxes & all sorts of other nonsense with illegally obtained information & only bad intent. I paid many millions of dollars in taxes but was entitled, like everyone else, to depreciation & tax credits…..”

“…..Also, if you look at the extraordinary assets owned by me, which the Fake News hasn’t, I am extremely under leveraged – I have very little debt compared to the value of assets. Much of this information is already on file, but I have long said that I may release….”

“…..Financial Statements, from the time I announced I was going to run for President, showing all properties, assets and debts. It is a very IMPRESSIVE Statement, and also shows that I am the only President on record to give up my yearly $400,000 plus Presidential Salary!”

In fact, when you actually finish reading this hit piece that the New York Times put out, you’ll see that they actually say that he did pay taxes.

The thing is that the article is thousands of words and most people aren’t going to read anything except for the first couple of paragraphs which give the impression that he only paid $750, when in reality, if you scroll about halfway through the diatribe, you’ll see this little snippet:

“Each time, he requested an extension to file his 1040; and each time, he made the required payment to the I.R.S. for income taxes he might owe — $1 million for 2016 and $4.2 million for 2017.”

But for those liberals who aren’t going to read the entire article, here’s what they’re going to see instead:

“Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.

He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.”

This is extremely deceptive and just goes to show that they are trash media and fake news, just like President Trump claims.
