Biden’s Worst Nightmare Comes True
On Wednesday, Gal Luft, an energy expert with dual citizenship in the US and Israel, claimed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) intentionally singled him out in order to shield Joe Biden.
According to a video statement obtained by the New York Post, Luft reported evidence of corruption involving the Biden family to the FBI and DOJ in March 2019, before Biden announced his presidential campaign. Luft claimed he did not receive any communication from the DOJ until he was arrested in Cyprus this year on charges of illegal arms trading, acting as an unregistered foreign agent, and lying to the FBI.
For months, House Republicans have been searching for Luft, who they believe is a crucial witness in their investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings. However, they have been unsuccessful in locating him to request his testimony before Congress.
In 2019, Luft, who resides mostly in Israel, suggested to meet with the DOJ to provide them with evidence and information regarding Hunter Biden’s connection with CEFC. Luft was an advisor to the Chinese energy firm for four years, coinciding with Hunter’s time working with the company.
According to Luft, he met with a team of six people from the DOJ and FBI in Brussels back in March before Biden announced his candidacy for the White House. The team consisted of two DOJ prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, Daniel Richenthal and Catherine Ghosh, as well as four representatives from the FBI, including Special Agent Joshua Wilson from the Baltimore field office. Later, Wilson’s signature would be found on the subpoena authorizing the FBI to seize Hunter’s laptop from a computer repair shop in Delaware.
Luft informed the DOJ that besides Hunter’s involvement with CEFC, he also mentioned the presence of a mole who was close to the FBI and was divulging information about their activity to the Biden family.
“After Brussels, I never heard back from the DOJ, but instead of showing appreciation for my whistle blowing, I became public enemy number one. Over the past four years that followed, me, my family, my friends, my associates were all harassed, intimidated, and, finally, I was prosecuted,” Luft said.
Luft is requesting that the DOJ make his indictment and the evidence against him public, as he is concerned about a potential sentence of 100 years if found guilty. Despite denying the allegations against him, he is eager for the information to be made available to the public.
According to Luft, he was arrested in Cyprus in February and is currently in hiding from U.S. authorities in an undisclosed location after escaping while awaiting potential extradition to the U.S.
“While I was detained in Cyprus, I was portrayed in the international media as an arms dealer, even though I never traded a bullet in my entire life. In fact, nowhere in my indictment, the DOJ claimed or presented the evidence that I bought, sold, shipped, or financed any weapons,” Luft said.
According to the energy expert, he was charged with violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) for writing an article under former CIA head James Woolsey’s name and having it published in a Chinese newspaper. The indictment alleges that Luft caused a payment of $6,000 from CEFC to Woolsey for the article.
“Nowhere the indictment, the DOJ mentioned the well-known fact that Mr. Woolsey had been an advisor to my think tank since 2002, and that there was nothing in the article that represented a Chinese interest. To the contrary, the notion that I, Gal Luft, spoon-fed a CIA director with policy proposals on China, treating him like a useful idiot, is not only an insult to the intelligence community, it is an insult to the intelligence of every American,” Luft said.
According to Luft, the charge of making false statements is also absurd because it stems from a meeting he arranged with the DOJ to act as a responsible citizen.
“Why won’t the FBI submit to Congress the minutes from the Brussels meeting? Let everybody see what happened in Brussels. Why not? Are you trying to protect anything? Are you trying to protect anybody?” Luft said.
Luft revealed that he is speaking up about information he has known for years because he does not think he will be given a fair trial in New York.
“I do not have faith that I would receive a fair trial in a New York court,” he said.
“The very same prosecutor who is now after me, Daniel Reichenthal, told the judge at the time that mentioning the name Biden would quote, ‘add a political dimension to the case.’ And the judge agreed,” Luft said, “which means that if I’m ever brought before a U.S. Court, I would not be allowed to utter the word Brussels or Biden. The real context of my arrest, me being patient-zero of the Biden family investigation would be hidden from the jury.”
