The Biden regime is about to unleash a new wave of illegal immigration on our already overwhelmed southern border. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has announced that he will end the Title 42 policy that allowed the U.S. to expel migrants during the pandemic to protect public health. This policy, enacted by the Trump administration, was one of the few effective tools to deter mass migration and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

But Mayorkas, who has a long history of promoting open borders and amnesty, has decided to put the interests of immigrants above those of Americans. He claims that he has been preparing for this change for months, but his preparations are woefully inadequate and unrealistic. He plans to deploy a mere 1,500 troops to assist the Border Patrol, which is already facing a record number of apprehensions and encounters. He also plans to set up “welcome centers” in Latin America, where migrants can apply for asylum or other forms of legal status. But these centers are not operational yet, and they will only encourage more people to leave their countries and head north.

Mayorkas was asked, “How do Americans gain from the immigration paths you are opening, sir? No [journalists] ever asks, “’Do Americans gain from all the immigrants who you bring in — [even though] wages get pushed down, rents get pushed up.’”

Mayorkas said, “Sir, we are a nation of immigrants. And we are a nation of laws. Individuals who qualify for relief under our laws have a basis to remain in the United States. The contributions of immigrants to this country is quite clear.”

Mayorkas is ignoring the warnings of his own inspector general, who issued a report last week saying that the situation at the border is “unsustainable” and that morale among DHS personnel has plummeted. He is also ignoring the concerns of border state lawmakers, such as Sen. Kirsten Sinema, who said that the Biden administration has failed to prepare for the end of Title 42 and has not shared vital information with them.

Mayorkas is betraying his oath of office and his duty to protect the American people. He is catering to the demands of pro-immigration activists and lobbyists, who want to flood our country with cheap labor and potential voters. He is undermining our national security, public safety, and border security by allowing thousands of migrants to enter our country without proper screening or testing. He is creating a humanitarian crisis for both the migrants and the communities that have to deal with them.

Mayorkas should resign or be fired immediately. He is not fit to lead DHS or enforce our immigration laws. He is a danger to our country and our sovereignty.
