Man Charged with Attempted Assassination of Former Trump Official
On Wednesday this week, federal law enforcement officers charged an Iranian national and member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with allegedly attempting to assassinate former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton. The alleged target of the assassination attempt was John Bolton.
Shahram Poursafi, also known as Mehdi Rezayi, 45, of Tehran, Iran, is accused of attempting to arrange for the assassination of John Bolton in retaliation for the Trump administration’s killing of notorious terrorist Qasem Soleimani, who was the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Qods Force. This was a response to the fact that Soleimani was the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC-QF).
According to a statement released by the Department of Justice, Poursafi made an offer of $300,000 to individuals in an effort to hire them to carry out the assassination in or around the nation’s capital.
Poursafi shared with a trustworthy source that he would pay them one million dollars in exchange for a second target if they were able to complete the mission successfully. Poursafi stated that surveillance of the second target had already been carried out on the ground in the United States using methods conducted from methods on the ground in the United States.
Poursafi was formally charged with supplying and attempting to offer material support to a transnational murder conspiracy in addition to using interstate commerce facilities to carry out a murder-for-hire.
Poursafi faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if found guilty of engaging in murder-for-hire and up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for offering and attempting to offer material support to a transnational murder plot, respectively.
Everyone is out to get President Trump and anyone else who has been associated with him it’s just crazy. But I’d be willing to bet that it’s all tied together somehow.
