Lake Responds To Clinton Statement
Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake didn’t miss a beat responding to former President Bill Clinton’s oddly backhanded “compliment,” calling her “physically attractive” while disparaging her approach to politics.
At a campaign rally, Lake delivered a quick-witted comeback, addressing Clinton’s remarks with both humor and a touch of irony rooted in his past scandals. “As a middle-aged woman, I’m flattered, okay? I don’t get those kinds of compliments every day,” Lake said. Then, with a nod to Clinton’s infamous history, she added, “I thought I was a little too old for him. Doesn’t he like interns?”
Lake, known for her sharp on-the-spot retorts, took the opportunity to underscore her commitment to family values and her independence from political bigwigs. Standing alongside her husband, she continued, “I’m happily married to my husband, Jeff… And four—nobody in their right mind wants to cross Hillary Clinton. It’s just dangerous.”

Clinton’s choice of words, especially his comment that Lake must be “prostrate before the master,” was enough to raise eyebrows. If roles were reversed, and Donald Trump had made such remarks about a female Democrat, media backlash would likely be swift and unrelenting.
But instead, Clinton’s remarks, however awkward, have simply added more fuel to Lake’s appeal among conservatives who are critical of the political double standard.
Clinton’s recent campaign appearances on behalf of Democrats, including Kamala Harris, have been marked by missteps. He described Harris as “extremely vulnerable” at a rally, inadvertently acknowledging GOP critiques of her record.
Clinton also referenced the tragic death of Laken Riley in a way that highlighted concerns over border security—again, accidentally reinforcing GOP messaging on vetting and immigration. With the polls showing a close race, Clinton’s gaffes might do little to help Democrats in this critical Senate showdown.
