King Charles Plans Some Major Shake Ups After Ascending to the Throne
Well, King Charles III has barely been on the throne, but already he has been doing a lot of work.
I’ve never been a king, so I’m not sure what all it entails doing, but I’m sure that there is a lot of work to do, especially when you first take the throne.
But one of the things that King Charles seems to be doing is doing a bit of house cleaning. Last week I read about him possibly firing around 100 employees at the castle. I’m not sure what the reason would be, but maybe there are just to many there to begin with and the Queen didn’t want to fire them given how the past few years have gone.
But apparently, there are other changes that King Charles is wanting to make which included removing some of the Royal Family of their duties.
According to The Telegraph,
The King wants the law amended so that counsellors of state are working members of the Royal family, the Telegraph understands.
The move would see the Duke of York, the Duke of Sussex and Princess Beatrice all relieved of their duties as official stand-ins for the sovereign, should he be indisposed.
Under the 1937 Regency Act, the spouse of a monarch and the four adults next in line to the throne can be deployed as counsellors of state on official business.
When Queen Elizabeth was still on the throne, those roles were filled by the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of York, while the Duke of Edinburgh had also acted as one before his death.
The change in the line of succession means that the new Queen Consort is now entitled to be a counsellor of state, as is Princess Beatrice as the next adult in line.
It’s pretty evident why King Charles would want to cut Harry and Andrew out of the equation. Both have been the subject of much controversy over the last few years. Prince Harry has all but shunned the Royal Family on the account of his wife, Meghan Markle. Prince Andrew, while one of the Queen’s favorite children, has been at the center of sexual allegations related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Beatrice, however, hasn’t been caught up in any real major controversy, but maybe it has something to do with Prince Andrew.
