The recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), which represents federal employees including IRS agents, has sparked significant concern across social media. For many conservatives, this endorsement is a glaring warning sign of the government overreach that’s been building under the Biden-Harris administration. The NTEU’s support comes in the wake of the Inflation Reduction Act, which increased the IRS budget by a staggering $80 billion, enabling the agency to hire 87,000 more agents—agents who will be combing through the finances of hardworking Americans.

On X (formerly Twitter), conservative commentators did not hold back. Joey Mannarino encapsulated the widespread sentiment, tweeting, “The IRS Agents Union just endorsed Kamala Harris. That should tell you all what her plans are for us. Get ready to be taxed to death. VOTE TRUMP!” This isn’t paranoia; it’s a very real concern. When the union representing the very agency responsible for auditing Americans throws its weight behind a candidate, it speaks volumes about the priorities of that administration.

The NTEU’s endorsement highlights Harris’s role in bolstering the IRS through increased staffing and resources, which they claim will help federal employees do their jobs more effectively. But for ordinary Americans, the threat is clear: more IRS agents mean more audits, more scrutiny, and higher taxes. Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz warned about the Biden-Harris administration’s long-term plan, noting that their 2025 budget proposal calls for an additional $104 billion for the IRS—eight times its usual annual budget. As Chaffetz pointed out, the IRS doesn’t need that kind of power unless the goal is to squeeze even more money out of American taxpayers.

Conservative digital strategist Greg Price chimed in, offering a sharp critique of Harris’s growing list of backers: “If the IRS, the FBI, Wall Street, Iran, Putin, the military industrial complex, the New York Times, 100 former McCain interns, and Dick Cheney all want one candidate to win then, for the love of God, vote for the other one.” The overwhelming support from bureaucratic and global elites for Harris paints a picture of a candidate who is in the pocket of the establishment, not working-class Americans.

Others, like podcast host Comfortably Smug, pointed out the alarming fact that the IRS is even unionized in the first place. “The fact that the IRS is unionized is horrific, let alone that Kamala Harris thinks their endorsement is a good thing,” he posted. For a candidate who is supposedly running on behalf of the American people, taking an endorsement from an agency that seems to exist solely to burden citizens with more taxes is a troubling move.

The Hodge Twins, well-known conservative podcasters, put it even more bluntly: “IRS agents endorsed Kamala,” adding multiple red flag emojis to drive home their point. And they’re right—this endorsement signals that Harris’s presidency could further empower agencies like the IRS, which means more audits, more bureaucracy, and less freedom for everyday Americans.
