Shockwaves as a Trump-aligned contender defies expectations, winning Ohio’s Republican primary amidst fierce liberal opposition. In a surprising twist, Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno triumphed in Ohio’s tightly contested Republican primary for the Senate race, despite facing stiff competition from within his own party.

Backed by former President Donald Trump, Moreno overcame challenges from State Senator Matt Dolan and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Dolan, who ran with support from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and former Senator Rob Portman, attempted to distance himself from Trump’s persona while still touting his policies. He emphasized, “I’m the only one in this race that’s cut taxes and reduced regulations. Who else has done that? Donald Trump.”

Moreno, however, fully embraced Trump, declaring, “I am so sick of Republicans that will say ‘I support President Trump’s policies, but I don’t like the man.'” Despite facing accusations from a controversial Associated Press report, Moreno emerged victorious, ready to take on incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in November.
