JUST IN: Jim Jordan ‘Threatens’ Fani Willis With Legal Action
Jim Jordan isn’t pulling punches as he threatens legal measures against Fulton County DA Fani Willis. In a dramatic turn of events, Congressman Jim Jordan has issued a stark ultimatum to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. He’s threatening legal action over what he perceives as her insufficient compliance with a subpoena linked to the investigation into potential misuse of federal grant funds.
Jordan’s discontent revolves around Willis’ alleged failure to provide crucial documents, particularly those related to accusations made by a former employee. He accused Willis of obstructing transparency and cooperation, declaring, “We will not dignify your attacks on this brave whistleblower, or your continued attempts to distract from your conduct through misdirection and personal insults.”
This latest confrontation underscores a deepening rift between federal oversight and local judicial authority, shedding a harsh spotlight on the operations of the Fulton County District Attorney’s office and its handling of federal funds.
Despite Willis’ office responding to the February subpoena, Jordan contends that it lacked essential information pertaining to alleged misconduct. His scathing letter to Willis outlined the committee’s dismay, alleging insufficient transparency and collaboration on the DA’s part.
“On February 23, 2024, you responded to the Committee’s subpoena with a letter in which you smeared a former employee of yours who spoke out about your misuse of federal grant funds,” wrote Jordan. “The allegations in the public realm about your misuse of federal grant funding are concerning, and the Committee has an obligation to examine them.”
The allegations in question center on claims made by a former employee, who purportedly faced termination after raising concerns about the diversion of funds meant for youth programs. According to Jordan, these funds were redirected to cover expenses related to a separate investigation.
Despite Jordan’s persistent demands for transparency, Willis’ compliance with the subpoena remains incomplete. In a stern warning, Jordan emphasized the gravity of the situation, setting a new deadline for full compliance. He stated, “If you fail to do so, the Committee will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings.”
When initially confronted with the subpoena in February, Willis vehemently denied any wrongdoing, intensifying the standoff between the two parties.
