I still find it extremely hard to believe that our own government is keeping people locked up in prison, a place that is now being referred to as DC Gitmo more than a year after the incident at the Capitol on January 6th took place.

According to our government people are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty so unless they’ve been taking the court and been proven guilty, they should not be in prison right now.

At this point, I think what they are mostly trying to do is to torture them enough to a point where they just start admitting guilt so that they can charge them with various crimes. This seems to completely go against the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution which entitles us to a fair and speedy trial.

However, a judge just recently rendered a verdict in regard to one of the defendants who have four charges brought against him in relation to his role in the protest at the Capitol that day.

Wouldn’t you know it, the judge acquitted the man on all four charges!

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointment, found that prosecutors failed to prove that Matthew Martin, who worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, committed crimes when he entered the Capitol for about 10 minutes.

Martin was justified in believing that outnumbered police officers allowed him and others to enter the Capitol through the Rotunda doors on Jan. 6, 2021, according to McFadden. Martin’s activities were likewise “about as minimal and non-serious” as everyone else at the Capitol that day, according to the court.

Hmm, I wonder if that’s because the police actually did allow them to enter the building. The police weren’t in a state of panic as though they were outnumbered. They moved barricades, unlocked the doors and let them inside.

Martin went to the rally organized by former President Trump on Jan. 6 before returning to his hotel, where he learned that the Capitol had been entered, according to court documents. Martin exited the building and walked about the Capitol grounds before entering the building.

“While I was at the top, they started letting people into the building. And I—so I joined the—they were holding the doors open, the guards were. And I walked in and saw the rotunda,” Martin told an FBI agent during an interview.

This is exactly why most of the people involved that day and are being held in DC Gitmo should be released. They were literally letting them into the building.
