Joe Biden’s House Fire Claims Under Scrutiny Again
Once again, Joe Biden has come under fire for reportedly making false claims about his house burning down. The controversy arose during his remarks on the administration’s response to Maui wildfires and Hurricane Idalia.
During his speech, Biden, who was an hour late to his address, made a statement that his house had almost collapsed due to a lightning strike. “Lightning struck my house we had to be out of that house for about 7 months while it was repaired because so much damage was done to the house and half the house almost collapsed!” Biden said during his speech.

This is not the first time he has made such a claim. He has mentioned this incident on several occasions, leading to widespread skepticism and fact-checking. Critics argue that his account of the event has been inconsistent and exaggerated.
According to a 2004 Associated Press news report cited by Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post, a small fire did occur in Biden’s home due to a lightning strike. However, the fire was reportedly contained to the kitchen and was under control within 20 minutes. Jill Biden reported the fire herself.
“Biden today: We ‘had a house burn down with my wife in it. She got out safely.’ 2004 AP news report: ‘A small fire that was contained to the kitchen….Jill reported the fire…The fire was under control in 20 minutes,”’ Kessler tweeted, challenging Biden’s version of the story.
According to another report, Biden sent a one-time payment of $700 to Maui households while reportedly sending billions to Ukraine. He was also accused of brushing off reporters’ questions regarding the rising death toll in Maui.
This controversy adds another layer to the ongoing political discourse surrounding Biden. His critics argue that these inconsistencies undermine his credibility and question his ability to lead effectively. While the veracity of Biden’s house fire claims remains a topic of debate, this incident underscores the importance of accuracy and accountability in public statements.
