Jeff Bezos Gives Away $200 Million to Two People…Guess Who They Are
The Space Race of 2021 is wrapping up now as two of the richest people in the world have most flown to space for fun to test their abilities to send civilians to the edge of space.
Richard Branson was able to do it first, but just shortly after that (on Tuesday) Jeff Bezos took his flight to space.
But that really wasn’t the only big thing that happened.
Following the event, Jeff Bezos talked about a new philanthropic organization that he’s creating and announced the first two recipients of this award. One of them was humanitarian Jose Andres and the other was CNN analyst Van Jones. He gave each of them $100 million to give to charities of their choosing.
According to Breitbart,
At the end of the press conference, Bezos said, “I have a little surprise for you. I am announcing today, a new philanthropic initiative … The Courage and Civility Award. It recognizes leaders who aim high, and who pursue solutions with courage, and who always do so with civility.”
Bezos said that “we should question ideas, not the person. … We need unifiers and not vilifiers. We want people who argue hard and act hard for what they truly believe.”
“We do have role models,” Bezos said before the slideshow introduced Jones as the first recipient of the $100 million award. The award is designed for the recipients to give to charities of their choice.
Now some people are still going to gripe about how it’s not enough. Jeff Bezos has $200 billion and he “only” gave away $200 million of it. But hey, let’s tax him some more so the government can get this money instead and piss it away instead of the money actually being given to caused that may truly benefit from the funds.
Personally, I don’t think that I would choose Van Jones to give this money, too, but he’s definitely not the worst person.
