Jeb Bush Says Republicans Should Challenge Trump In 2020
Jeb Bush has come out and said that he believes that someone should challenge President Trump for the Republican nomination in 2020.
Jeb was completely manhandled by Donald Trump in the Republican primary during the last election.
At one point, Jeb Bush let his domain name expire and Donald Trump bought it and used it for himself resulting in the ultimate troll.
According to The Blaze,
One of the primary benefits of being a first-term incumbent president is that you don’t have to worry about a primary challenge. Traditionally, the incumbent is able to focus all their energy on the general election, while, of course, maintaining their presidential duties.
While speaking with David Axelrod on CNN’s “The Axe Files” over the weekend, Bush argued that a Republican challenger would give Republicans and conservatives “a choice.”
During the interview, Jeb told David Axelrod from CNN,
“I think someone should run just because Republicans ought to be given a choice. It’s hard to beat a sitting president, but to have a conversation about what it is to be a conservative, I think it’s important.
And our country needs to have competing ideologies that people — that are dynamic, that focus on the world we’re in and the world we’re moving toward rather than revert back to a nostalgic time.
We haven’t had a major crisis to deal with, but this unilateralism or going-alone-ism I think is really dangerous.
Our friends no longer believe they can trust the United States and our enemies, in many cases, feel emboldened by this approach. I think it defies the…bipartisan kind of consensus on foreign policy that has, by and large, kept America safe.
You can honestly say he’s done good things in terms of policy and applaud them,” Bush said. “I think the symbolic, you know the kingly duties of the presidency, that’s where he falls short, and it’s important.
The kind of campaign [Trump] ran would have never been successful a decade ago or in the age of Reagan and Bush, for example.
It’s not worth disparaging people.”
Will we end up with a Republican candidate to challenge President Trump? I think it’s unlikely but could happen. I think only an idiot would run against him and waste their money.
