Homelessness Skyrocketed in 2020, Now We Know Why…(Hint: It Wasn’t the Virus)
Homelessness is a serious problem in our nation and honestly, I don’t think it’s going to get any better anytime soon. The reason I say that is because our government is doing everything that actually encourages homelessness.
In 2020, which was the first year of the pandemic, there was a massive increase in the number of deaths among the homeless.
But contrary to what you may be thinking would have been the leading cause, it wasn’t the virus. In fact, the homeless population fared well against it for some reason.
The reason why there was such a huge spike in deaths was due to drug overdoses. It seems strange, doesn’t it? During this time, they must have been thriving because they were able to either acquire more drugs or they were getting drugs that were laced with other substances such as fentanyl.
According to Epoch Times,
Los Angeles County, which has been dominated by Democratic executives and elected officials for years, said that between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, some 1,988 overall deaths among the homeless were recorded. That’s up about 56 percent from 1,271 deaths during the same time period one year earlier, said a report from the LA Department of Public Health, dated April 22.
As a result, the county concluded that drug overdoses remained the top cause of death among homeless individuals during that timeframe. Overdose deaths also increased 78 percent “from the pre- to post-pandemic onset year,” the country wrote.
There were 402 fatal overdoses in the pre-pandemic year, the country said. That “nearly doubled” to 715 in the first year of the outbreak, LA County said.
But like I said above, our government is encouraging and enabling this to happen. Sure, it’s not explicit necessarily. They’re not telling them to do drugs, but let’s look at just a few policies that are in place thanks to Democrats that are contributing to these overdoses.
The first obvious on is the border situation which allows a flood of drugs to cross our border and end up in the hands of the homeless.
Secondly, there is the matter that our government is not doing anything to help them get off of the streets. The best that they’ve done recently is force them to move out of an area in Seattle because Joe Biden was coming to down and they couldn’t have that being seen on camera. So they didn’t actually fix the problem, they literally just swept it under the rug so you wouldn’t see it on TV.
And now, with the skyrocketing prices of everything, more people are going to end up homeless because affordability has gone out the window.
