Hasbro Gives Update on Gender Neutral “Mr. Potato Head” Drama
So I’m sure that you’ve heard all of the hub-bub from the Cancel Culture surrounding Mr. Potato Head.
If you haven’t, Hasbro, the company that makes the toy, was expected to release a “gender-neutral” version of the toy, entirely replacing the “Mr. Potato Head” with “Potato Head”.
When I first heard this, you know what the thing that I instantly thought of was? I thought to myself, “I thought it was already gender-neutral.”
Seriously though. I own a Mr. Potato Head and guess what? I have a mustache and black hate and such, but I also have pointed high heel shoes, long eyelashes, a purse, and a hat with a flower on it. I can literally make the potato a male, female, something in-between, or something with four arms and 3 ears.
You literally have a blank canvas with these things all you need is the right equipment. It’s like wanting a gender-neutral version of painting. You have a blank canvas, do with it whatever your little heart’s desire is set on.
In the end, Hasbro decided to back off of that route, and it makes perfect sense. First of all, it makes no sense to tick off your majority customer base by placating to the smallest minority of people in the country.
The initial news stirred up a lot of criticisms from everyone. By far, one of the best comments that I saw though came from Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire.
“I told my 7-year-old daughter that Mr. Potato Head is gender neutral now and she smiled and said, ‘This is the greatest day of my life. Finally I can be at peace.’ We hugged and I started sobbing. It was so beautiful.”

Slate.com then attacked Walsh saying, “Matt Walsh, who has nearly 500,000 Twiter followers and writes for Shapiro’s Daily Wire site, mocked the idea that young girls would be happy to use toys that don’t emphasize gender roles.”
Walsh shot back, “It is deeply offensive that Slate would accuse me of being anything less than sincere with this post. My family’s trauma is not a joke.”

Remain vigilant my friends. Remember that we’re not just fighting against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. This is a spiritual battle and in the end…God wins.
