Governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem is definitely one of those on the right side.

She has done some amazing things over the last year and a half since this pandemic started. Gov. Noem has been on the side of freedom and it has paid off for her.

There is currently a piece of legislation in which Republicans are seeking to ban the vaccine mandates within the state and Gov. Noem is not behind it.

Daily Wire reported,

Republican state Reps. Jon Hansen and Scott Odenbach are trying to null businesses mandating their employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19 through the “COVID-19 Vaccine Freedom of Conscience Act.”

Noem claims such legislation is a slippery slope that could lead to other dictates toward businesses Republicans might not like. “If we mandate one thing, are we setting a precedent for what we are telling businesses they have to do far into the future?” Noem posed.

The Republican governor has, though, banned vaccine mandates for employees in state and local government in SD.

She has also argued that employees of private businesses opposed to a vaccine mandate can go work elsewhere.

Noem tweeted, “Workers whose employers are mandating a vaccine for continued employment have the power to say no,” Noem posted to Twitter on July 31. “Our robust economy and job market gives them the option to find a new employer that values personal choice and responsibility, and doesn’t force mandates on their employees.”

Here are my thoughts on the whole matter:

I do not think that a company should mandate that their employees get vaccinated. Especially since this vaccine is still controversial.

Does the vaccine work? Yes, for some it does and for others it doesn’t. Then there is some gray area in between where it kind of works.

Should a business establishment have the right to decide who works there and who doesn’t? Absolutely. If they only want vaccinated individuals, that should be within their right to do so. It might come back to bite them in the butt in the long run, but they should have that right to kill their own business.

Should the government interfere with this at all? Absolutely not. The government should not be telling a business that it must or that it can’t require their employees to be vaccinated. This decision should be left up to the business itself.

The employees can leave and go somewhere else. It sucks, I get that. But so does making you work on a weekend or changing your hours from 8 hour days to 12 hour days. If you don’t like it, you can leave. No one is forcing them to stay. That is what capitalism and freedom is all about.

This is not an endorsement of the vaccine. Not by any stretch of the imagination. This is simply about freedom in America. We’re not always going to like the end result, but to maintain freedom, some things are just going to suck.
