You know as well as I do that strict gun-control laws only hurt our country, our freedoms, and jeopardize our safety.

Criminals don’t care about gun laws because they are criminals. It’s not like they’re just going to the fun shops and purchasing firearms.

They are not supposed to legally possess firearms in the first place. Nonetheless, it doesn’t stop them from being able to acquire them.

However, it does prevent law-abiding citizens from being able to get a firearm and some states have more strict laws with being able to obtain a concealed carry permit.

Chicago is one of the toughest places to legally obtain a firearm, but it does happen. It’s even harder to obtain a concealed carry permit as those applying have to be able to meet some very specific and strict requirements.

In addition to being 21 years of age, they must register with the state as an Illinois firearms owner, have no criminal convictions within the previous five years, no DUIs within the previous five years, and no pending arrest warrants. Permit applicants must also undergo 16 hours of additional training.

Out of the entire state of Illinois, with a population of around 13 million people, only 315,000 citizens have been able to actually obtain a concealed carry permit.

Thankfully, one man did have one recently in Chicago and was able to stop an armed robbery.

“A man was shot and killed while trying to rob a cell phone store in Chicago on Saturday, police said. The would-be robber entered the cell phone shop on the 3400 hundred block of West Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park around 7 p.m.,” Chicago’s Fox affiliate reported Sunday.

“A man on the scene shot the robbery suspect in the chest and abdomen, police said. It is not clear if the man was the owner, employee, or another customer,” the outlet noted. “Police said the shooter, 29, had a valid concealed carry permit.”

A later report from the Sun-Times indicated that the shooter was a store employee. Police confiscated both the shooter’s weapon and the suspected robber’s.

Time and time again, we see good guys with guns stopping bad guys with guns. If Democrats keep pushing for strict gun laws, this is going to become less of an occurrence and the bad guys are going to prevail.
