“Godfather” Actor Mocks Chris Cuomo For His Reaction To Being Called Fredo
Last week, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo busted on camera threatening another individual for calling him a “Fredo”.
The name “Fredo” is a reference to the movie “The Godfather” and one of Don Corleone’s sons…the screw-up.
The man tells Cuomo, “I thought that’s who you were.”
I think he was probably trolling him, but I do know that Rush Limbaugh has called him Fredo on his show as well and maybe that’s where he got it.
Cuomo then goes on a rant, “No, punk-a** b****es from the Right call me Fredo. My name is Chris Cuomo, I’m an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from ‘The Godfather,’ he was that weak brother and they’re using it as an Italian aspersion. It’s like the ‘n-word’ for us.”
The man then mocks Cuomo’s intensity by saying, “You’re a much more reasonable guy in person than you seem to be on television.”
Cuomo later tells him, “You’re going to have a f***ing problem,” and tells the man: “I’ll f***ing ruin your shit. I’ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk.”
Gianni Russo, who played Vito Corleone’s wife-abusing son-in-law, Carlo Rizzi, having known the Cuomos shared his thoughts on Chris’ reaction.
According to Fox News,
Russo, who says he’s friends with the Cuomo family, told TMZ he was surprised that Chris would equate being called Fredo with an affront to Italian people.
“His father would smack him,” Russo said of the late former governor Mario Cuomo.
“I couldn’t understand, because he’s such an intelligent kid, educated and everything else. I heard he’s hurt his career,” the 75-year-old actor explained. “All these news guys, they’re so opinionated,” Russo continued. “They’re supposed to report the news. It’s not about what you think. And you’re taking Fredo, a character from a classic? It’s like spitting on the Mona Lisa.”
