Against the backdrop of the pandemic and the public response, especially among professional athletes to support the alleged “victims”, voices to the contrary emerged, even among other professional athletes.

Most recently, Herschel Walker spoke at the RNC Congress and recently posted a video in which he continues to speak out against the Black Lives Matter movement.

Given the principles promoted by the movement and Herschel’s tough stance against it, we can imagine that the tide could turn against the BLM.

Herschel Walker’s concern stems from the BLM’s alleged allegiance to Marxism.

The group has repeatedly claimed to be fueled, funded and staffed by trained Marxists with an agenda to disrupt the American way of life. The movement plays off of its ability to capture the polarizing imagery and storyline that continued victimization of African Americans can only be undone by completely undermining the American government and constitutional process.

However, doing so comes at the cost of many of the things that Americans, particularly Mr. Walker, most value: freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, along with the structure of the US representative democracy. Herschel implored fellow professional athletes in all leagues to question “what’s right” in the wake of footage showing BLM supporters burning Bibles and crosses.

He further urged those in Washington DC to question a movement that seeks destruction in an effort to impose its preferred means of change, noting that “we cannot continue to sweep stuff underneath the rug, ’cause sooner or later we’re gonna stumble.”

We often hear from and of professional athletes promoting themselves or their brands and on occasion promoting one cause or another. In the wake of a summer of heated and contentious events, many athletes have sought to jump on the popular bandwagon and rally around the cause for equality trumpeted by various groups, most visibly Black Lives Matter.

As events take place, the BLM and other groups show their true colors and intentions to disrupt the American way of life.
Herschel’s video in response to the group’s destructive pathway is an explicit call for others to realize that seeking change through destruction does not lead to peace.
