With the coronavirus spanning across the entire planet at this point, something many have long been saying would happen may have started.

For decades, people have suspected that eventually, world leaders would set up a one-world government. Many have just dismissed this as a crazy conspiracy theory, but former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown is actually saying that it needs to happen.

The left-wing former Labour leader said there was a need for a taskforce involving world leaders, health experts and the heads of international organizations that would have supreme and unfettered executive powers to coordinate the response.

He gave no indication of who would appoint the “leaders,” how long they would serve for or just what their powers would involve, the Guardian reports.

Brown simply wants a new layer of global supra-government to force a solution to a crisis that began in Wuhan, China.

“This is not something that can be dealt with in one country,” he said. “There has to be a coordinated global response.”

Brown said the current crisis was different to the one he was involved in 2008 during the global financial crash. “That was an economic problem that had economic causes and had an economic solution.

Former prime minister Gordon Brown has called for the creation of a temporary form of global government to be assembled to provide a unified body to tackle coronavirus.

Such an organization could tackle the spread of the virus, coordinate production and distribution of essential equipment, and help deal with the economic fallout from the pandemic, he said.

Mr. Brown’s suggestion comes ahead of an emergency video conference of the G20 countries, which even before it has begun has already seen a standoff between the US and China over responsibility for the virus.

The summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia, is designed to produce new practical measures to deal with the disease, but a coordinated fiscal response to the crisis is not expected to be agreed.

Mr. Brown said the summit also ought to include the United Nations security council.
