Former FBI director James Comey is headed back to Capitol Hill Monday to meet with members of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees.

The meeting comes almost two weeks after a previous meeting and will be behind closed doors this time.

Fox News reported,

The prior Dec. 7 session left lame-duck Republican lawmakers fuming as Comey repeatedly said “I don’t remember,” “I don’t know” and “I don’t recall” when grilled about investigations Republicans believed were aimed at hurting President Trump. The questioning covered the FBI’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s email server and how a counter-intelligence investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election morphed into an all-encompassing probe of Trump’s inner circle, including the obtaining of FISA warrants used to spy on American citizens.

Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina said about James Comey, “Comey just thinks he’s always right, and it doesn’t matter if Horowitz thinks he’s wrong, and it doesn’t matter if everyone else concludes he did wrong. He knows better. So, that’s what it’s like to interview an amnesiac with incredible hubris.”

President Donald Trump tweeted after the transcript for the initial interview with Comey was released,

“On 245 occasions, former FBI Director James Comey told House investigators he didn’t know, didn’t recall, or couldn’t remember things when asked. Opened investigations on 4 Americans (not 2) – didn’t know who signed off and didn’t know Christopher Steele. All lies!”

The Federalist highlighted three key areas that the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees should ask Comey about,

First, the House should determine what Comey didn’t know. 

A second area of focus for the committees should be to clarify Comey’s prior testimony that the agents who interviewed Trump’s then-national security advisor Michael Flynn “observed no indicia of deception, physical manifestations, shiftiness,” but that “the conclusion of the investigators was he was obviously lying, but they saw none of the normal common indicia of deception.”

Finally, the committees should confirm with Comey the procedures governing the FBI’s investigation, then quiz the former FBI director on his agents’ compliance with those procedures. Here, the committee should walk Comey through the Domestic Investigations and Operation Guide updated on September 2016, and issued under Comey’s name.

One thing is certain, for a federal agency that can do so much and know so much, their people coincidently know so little when it comes to matters surrounding the corruption within its own organization.
