FAKE NEWS MEDIA EXPOSED… all credibility LOST
It Is hard to remember a time in our history that would compare to the mistrust many Americans have for the media today.
It is no secret that the mainstream media has always had a leftward tilt. Even so, however, most people believed the media was still being honest, even with its bias. That all changed when Trump became the Republican nominee for president in 2016.
The once trusted industry was suddenly being challenged on virtually every front. Stories were being published without ever having been truly vetted. Suddenly, unnamed sources were the preferred source and it seemed as though water cooler gossip was the source of most information.
Even more glaring was what the media was not choosing to cover, however. The media more or less ignored Clinton scandals while latching on to any negative Trump narrative it could find. We also noticed that positive Trump news was no longer being published.
Most of us wrongly assumed this was primarily a problem in politics because we knew the entire left and the media despised Donald Trump. Little did we know, this lack of professionalism being displayed by the media saturated the entire industry, not just Trump stories.
In what can only be described as a complete failure of both professionalism and integrity, the New York Times has been exposed as a complete fraud in what was one of its major stories of 2018.
The publication put out an award-winning podcast in 2018 called “Caliphate.” The report was centered on a man that claimed to have been a member of ISIS. Even though the publication found inconsistencies with the story of Abu Huzayfah, the podcast continued. Now, however, after further investigations of the man’s claims, the New York Times had to publish an extensive retraction for the original report.
The Times stated, “During the course of reporting for the series, The Times discovered significant falsehoods and other discrepancies in Huzayfah’s story … As a result, The Times has concluded that the episodes of ‘Caliphate’ that presented Mr. Chaudhry’s claims did not meet our standards for accuracy.”
It has now become open season on the once-respected publication that now seems to have just as many fake news reports as it does legitimate reports. Conservative strategist Chris Barron stated, “The Times has lit its credibility on fire over the last few years. From baseless anti-Trump conspiracy theories to the laughably error-riddled 1619 and now to this. The Times might ask themselves why this keeps happening over and over again?”
Sadly, this is something that has continued. During the 2020 election, a major story about Hunter Biden was ignored and publications like the Times have also ignored the Chinese spy story regarding Rep. Swalwell.
Honestly, it is tough to imagine a time right now when Americans will fully trust the media again. The damage that has occurred over the last four years could literally take decades to repair.
