Elementary School Cancels Thanksgiving Play After Receiving This Many Complaints from Snowflakes
An elementary school in Wisconsin canceled its yearly “First Thanksgiving Day” play that is performed by the first graders of the school.
It sounds like the PC culture must have been hounding them to stop this and so in order to not offend the snowflakes, they decided to not do it this year. But that’s not what happened at all.
The school canceled the play for fears of being “racist” after ZERO complaints from anyone.
Here is what the email said:
“Unfortunately, the children are unable to dress as a Pilgrim or Native American.”
“We apologize if you already purchased or made your child’s costume. There have been some conversations and concerns about the accuracy of the first Thanksgiving story. Out of respect for Native Americans, and the sensitivity of this time in our history, we are not going to reenact the first Thanksgiving story.”
“Please disregard the practice paper your child has been busy reading over the last few days. We still plan to have a Thanksgiving program where the children will perform a play, sing some songs, and share a big book with you. Again, we are sorry for the change of plans and hope that you understand.”
This is getting out of hand. Snowflakes are getting so offended about everything in life that to even consider doing something that might offend someone has people so afraid nowadays. This must stop.
People need to grow up and understand that in order to have and maintain the freedom of speech you there is a risk of offending or being offended. That’s how new ideas come about as well. That’s how people learn from one another.
Even if someone gets their feelings hurt from a Thanksgiving play, that is no reason not to do it. Feelings shouldn’t be a deciding factor as to whether or not someone should do something. If all the parents decided that they didn’t want their children being a part of the play, that’s a different story and probably worth canceling at that point.
This all comes from an ignorance of what happened at the first Thanksgiving and the relationships between the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. Everyone thinks that there was the mass genocide of Native Americans once the English settled in, but that’s not what happened at all.
I have to explain this to my wife every year because she’s always sensitive to what happened and never really remembers the details.
Watch the video down below, I think it will help you get a better understanding of what actually happened at the first Thanksgiving.
