DOJ Inspector General Exposes More FBI Corruption
The corruption that is our own federal government is so deep and so immense that I don’t know that we’ll ever be able to undo it. If we can, it is going to take decades to do so. Even our agencies that are supposed to be neutral have become weaponized by Democrats and beyond that have seemingly become entirely incompetent to do their jobs effectively. I would suspect that’s because they are liberals and for some reason are unable to think logically about, well, anything.
During a recent testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, Michael Horowitz, the Department of Justice the Inspector General, revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has conducted 3.4 million warrantless “backdoor searches” of American citizens’ communications. These searches are performed as part of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which was designed to safeguard the country from terrorist and foreign espionage threats.
Rep. Matt Gaetz questioned Horowitz about the massive volume of searches, which he described as “concerning.” Horowitz, who is limited in what he can disclose about public reports, admitted that the situation is indeed disquieting, noting that the 30% error rate recorded over the past two years is of particular concern. In essence, this means that over a million searches conducted during that time were erroneous.
The FISA system is meant to be a strictly regulated process that enables investigators to obtain warrants in cases where national security is at risk. However, the revelations of the FBI’s backdoor searches appear to be a significant breach of privacy, especially given the high number of errors. Gaetz queried how many people could use FISA to perform backdoor searches, but no one seems to know with certainty. Nonetheless, it is clear that further discussions and actions must be taken to ensure more robust controls over the use of FISA, guaranteeing it is being used only for its intended purpose.
