Democrats Tired Of Pelosi And Schumer’s Refusal To Negotiate

It’s happening again. Democrats are turning on other Democrats.

This time though it’s big. They’re now turning on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Chuch Schumer.

On Saturday afternoon, President Trump made a huge announcement and showed his true willingness to negotiate and compromise with the Democrats, as well as end the partial government shutdown.

The President’s deal included $800 million in urgent humanitarian assistance, $805 million in new drug detection technology, and three years of legal relief from deportation for DACA recipients in exchange for the $5.7 billion for “strategic deployment of physical barriers.” It’s essentially a two-for-one deal. The Democrats get two things they want, and the President gets his money for the wall.

Of course Nancy Pelosi said no immediately. In fact, she released a refusal of the deal before President Trump even gave the announcement live.

Because of Chuck and Nancy’s refusal to work with on our border crisis, we’re in the midst of the longest government shutdown in history. What are Congressional Democrats doing instead? Partying on the beach with over a hundred lobbyists.

Democrats failed their 1st test at governing: by refusing to meet with to reopen govt & secure our border, they’re turning over their voting cards to Pelosi & denying their constituents a voice in these negotiations. You can’t serve the American people if you don’t show up

Now it looks like some Democrats are starting to finally break away from the absurd absolutist position Pelosi is espousing.

Finally, today seven Democratic House members broke rank and engaged with President Trump.  The seven Democrats represent congressional districts where Trump remains popular.

It’s likely they’re looking at Pelosi’s age and are refusing to surrender their budding careers at the altar of a leader who is not likely to be around much longer.

This staredown is coming to an end.  It will come with Trump getting the wall because, otherwise, President Trump can remove the furloughed workers permanently under Reduction in Force rules.

There has been much talk from House Democrats that this refusal is ridiculous,

“I’ve been trying to force leadership on both sides of the aisle to work out a compromise to this shutdown.” – Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-NY)

“I am sick and tired of us using a government shutdown as a form of brinksmanship­–a tool of negotiation. “I just got out of a bruising fight with my House leadership. Let’s open the government back up and let’s get back to work.” – Rep. Max Rose (D-NY)

“If I am getting comments and contact from my constituents expressing concern that the Democrats are not prioritizing security, then I think we can do better.” – Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA)

“If I had the opportunity to vote for some sort of a deal, I would.” – Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ)

“The idea of walking away is unacceptable. We’ve got to get the government back open. People are suffering. It’s costing businesses in my district.” – Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ)

“I think we all want to see DACA protections, so I think there’s an opportunity to, if they give something — it’s called negotiation, right.” – Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA)

I think the tide is finally starting to shift and Pelosi needs to pull the iron rod out of her butt and sit at the table with The President to do some business. It’s the best thing for everyone.
