While you were preparing for remembering 9/11 and those who we lost that day 18 years ago, Democrats were busy working toward taking away some more of your freedoms.

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives voted and passed a bill that would ban magazines that are capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

This isn’t even the only thing that they were working on with gun control.

Other measures along with the banning of “high-capacity” magazines are a so-called red flag bill and legislation to prevent people who have been convicted of violent hate crimes from being able to possess firearms.

The legislation, which will now be considered by the full House, comes more than a month after gun safety surged back to the forefront of U.S. public debate in the wake of back-to-back mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

The bills are part of a coordinated strategy between House and Senate Democrats to put pressure on Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell to allow a vote on gun-related bills including universal background check legislation that passed the House in February.

“We are not taking these additional actions simply to respond to mass shootings,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told the proceedings.

“We are acting because of the urgent need to respond to the daily toll of gun violence in our communities, whether they are mass shootings or not, and whether or not they make national headlines,” he said.

After a meeting with the President, Rep. Steve Scalise said, “The President’s been willing to meet with any members of Congress that are open to addressing real problems. But again, the real issue has to be focused on solving problems that have caused some of these shootings to happen as opposed to the approach some people want to take. There are many people that are trying to take advantage of these crises just to promote their own gun-control agenda that’s not focused as much on mass shootings as it is on law-abiding citizens.”

If the Democrats would just understand this simple concept, then maybe some progress could actually be made toward some form of gun control. With the loud call to ban “assault rifles” (which aren’t even assault rifles) such as AR-15s and AK-47s as an effort to prevent mass shootings, they fail to realize that these weapons aren’t the main tools used in mass shootings. So they’re not actually going to do any real good to actually saving lives and preventing other shootings from occurring.
