Democrats have had a lot to say about the incoming Republican majority in Congress, and they’re especially concerned about their promise to create a ‘Church Committee’ that will analyze any corruption and political bias within the FBI and other intelligence organizations. The Democrats are alarmed by Republicans’ attempts to discredit America’s institutions with evidence suggesting that the FBI has unfairly targeted conservatives.

On Monday, Representative Jim Clyburn, who is serving as Assistant Democratic Leader once again, shared the same sentiments of his fellow Democrats. He warned that looking into ongoing investigations could very well lead to a loss of faith in the FBI. Clyburn went on to explain that it’s part of Biden’s administration’s job to investigate conservative politicians and activists, and that Republicans should not be getting involved despite their duty as Members of Congress being to provide oversight for Presidential administrations.

Clyburn appeared on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” program on Monday night where he expressed his views regarding House Republicans wanting to investigate various government agencies, including the Department of Justice. He argued that investigating ongoing investigatory processes isn’t right considering it is the responsibility of the Department of Justice under the Biden administration.

According to Clyburn, interfering with such proceedings could jeopardize American democracy because it would raise doubts over many important institutions across society which need trust from citizens in order for them to be effective. Furthermore, he stressed that conducting investigations into investigations sets a dangerous precedent which could harm our nation in far more ways than one, both now and in the future.

Democrats have LONG burned that bridge. They’ve set the most dangerous precedents by targeting conservatives, spying on them, gaslighting them, impeaching President Trump…twice! They’ve done more than a lifetime’s worth of damage to this country.
