Deep State RINO Considering 2024 Presidential Run
I think that we all have a pretty good idea at what the result of the 2024 election will be. How we get there is another story altogether, but it will certainly be interesting. Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) has refused to rule out a potential run for the presidency in 2024. The surprise reveal occurred during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” where she confirmed that she was not ruling out a presidential bid.
Cheney, known for her outspoken opposition to former President Trump, dubbed him a “threat” and predicted that there would be “a number of other candidates in the race.” Despite conceding that Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was a significant post-9/11 blunder, Cheney admitted that she perceived Biden as more effective on the international stage than Trump.
Last year, Cheney lost her primary to Harriet Hageman, who enjoyed Trump’s endorsement. However, her recent comments suggest that she’s far from bowing out of the political arena.
Many believe that this move could lead to a 2024 showdown between Cheney and Trump, who is currently leading Republican presidential nomination polls and is ramping up his campaign for a second term in the White House. If Trump succeeds in the primaries, we could see a 2020 rematch against Biden with Cheney thrown into the mix.
The former lawmaker’s ambition doesn’t stop at the White House. She revealed plans to spend next year helping elect what she called “serious” and “sane” people from both major parties to Congress. This move underscores Cheney’s commitment to electing officials who are dedicated to upholding the Constitution and taking their responsibilities seriously.
Despite once being the third-ranking Republican in the House, Cheney acknowledged her diminished influence within the current GOP conference. When quizzed about the search for a new GOP-led House speaker, she tactfully declined to endorse anyone, stating that her endorsement would likely do more harm than good.
Since leaving Congress, Cheney has transitioned to academia, taking up a role as a professor of politics at the University of Virginia. She’s also been working on a book set to be released in December. According to Cheney, the book serves as a “cautionary tale” about the Republican conference’s embrace of Trump.
